Just Words
– Tribute to Swamy
Vivekananda
Being in the learning and
dream of making SWAMY VIVEKANANDA as a role model for a decade and more, the
dream on India is strong. Strong enough that it is difficult to hold any
negative statements against this mother land. I am unusually hopeful of a
brighter future for this great country.
Who and How to make this
possible was a concern for me. Is this with a few celebrations and a talk and
articles around? I keep wondering why SWAMY VIVEKANANDA couldn’t make another a
few before he left us.
I had the opportunity of
being the guest and giving away the prizes for the best speaker selected by the
elocution competitions help commemorating the 150th Birth
Celebration of SWAMY VIVEKANANDA in a major city in Kerala. I asked the name of
a book authored by SWAMY VIVEKANANDA while giving the prize to the winner when she
came to receive the prize, she couldn’t give. It was not surprising to know
during the speech when I asked among the audience someone to tell me at least
one book authored by SWAMY VIVEKANANDA.
I have a few regular
students who are aspirants of Civil Service and we meet on all holidays for the
20 months in Hyderabad at my residence. I made my students to write article on
their dreams about India. Many of them starts with a negative sentence stating
what are the problems and bad things. I gave examples of SWAMY VIVEKANANDA who
used to speak great about this nation and his dreams on education, life, confidence
on youth etc. and made my students to write essay with positive attitude.
We travel and at times
have sessions in Villages with social service and learning associated with
that. Our sessions are at times in Gurudwara with silence, Science centre with
experiments, MMTS (Train), Fort, Parks etc.
Request for essay was
forwarded and circulated through little contacts I had and also through the
internet social network media. Found that youth have real wonderful dreams and
they could be molded to be brigades of SWAMY VIVEKANANDA. Messages at my talk
in many of the colleges across the country and a few venues in Kerala including
the Ramakrishna Mat in Kochi gave me good number of youth contribution.
August 15th was
a day when I conducted an elocution competition based on the same theme. After
that a certificate distribution as Youth Award for 2012 was planned on top of
the Fort. I insisted that those who reach on top of the fort only will get the
certificates. I wanted the message of SWAMY VIVEKANANDA to go the youth. Only
in Strong Body the Strong Mind resides and then only we can be Leaders.
I am glad and privileged
to have the contributions of Youth from National Institute of Technology (Hamirpur)
to Trivandrum. Their dreams are encouraging in creating a promising India.
